Read MoreWe are Torbay Music Hub.
Inspiring and enabling a musical journey for every young person in Torbay.
We:
Work in partnership with schools, music leaders and other organisations to support and develop musical opportunities for young people.
Champion and raise awareness of the benefits of making music.
Network with young people, music providers and the wider community to make what we offer is relevant.
Offer chances for all young people to make music and to help them find ways to progress.
Make sure standards are high through accreditation and quality assurance.
Like all Music Hubs up and down the country, we do this by:
making sure that every child age 5 – 18 has the opportunity to learn an instrument (other than voice)
providing opportunities to play in ensembles and the perform from an early stage
making sure that clear progression routes are available and affordable to all young people
making sure that every pupil sings regularly and that choirs and other vocal ensembles are available in the area.
We also:
offer CPD to school staff, particularly supporting the music curriculum
provide an instrument loan service, with discounts or free provision for those on low incomes
provide access to large scale and/or high quality music experiences for pupils, working with professional musicians and/or venues.
For full details see Hub Roles and A national plan for music education.
Currently part of the Hub:
Torbay Music Service (Torbay Council)
primary schools, secondary schools and Oldway Teaching School
Jane Anderson-Brown (local musician, singer and teacher)
Torbay Music Hub is funded by Arts Council England.
